PVT Philip Jerome Chester

PVT Philip Jerome Chester was born 4 Dec 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio to Morris and Celia (Budman) Chester.  His father worked in a manufacturing plant and reported a 1939 income of $1400.  His mother died in 1940.

When drafted in October 1942, Philip was working in construction.  After training he was sent overseas.  On 22 Jul 1944 he was transferred from the replacement depot to E Company 116th Infantry.  PVT Chester was killed in action on 5 Aug 1944. 

Buried in the Brittany American Cemetery.

Older brother Max Jeffrey Chester served from 1942 to 1945 in the army and attained the rank of CPL.
