PVT Pedro Moreno Rodriguez

PVT Pedro Moreno Rodriguez was born 18 Jan 1924 in Atascosa, Texas. He was a son of Monica (Moreno) Rodriguez. It appears that he was able to complete 2 years of high school education.

Pedro was working as a day laborer in Pleasanton, Texas when he registered for the draft in June 1942.  He was working as farm labor when he was drafted in October 1943. After his military training he was sent to the European theater probably arriving in England in late June or early July 1944. PVT Rodriguez was transferred from the replacement depot to G Company 116th Infantry as a rifleman on 22 Jul 1944. He was promoted to PFC just 2 days later on 24 Jul 1944. PFC Rodriguez was killed in action in the attack to liberate Vire, France on 6 Aug 1944.

PVT Rodriguez was repatriated in 1949. He was moved from Percy, France to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California.

Brother, PVT Nicolas Moreno Rodriquez, died of wounds while serving with F Company 134th Infantry and is also interred in the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery
