PFC Earnest Leon Stafford was born in Blount County, Alabama on 18 Sep 1917 to John Thomas and Della Katherine (Murphee) Stafford on a farm near Oneonta. Second born of 7 children, he was working as a farm laborer in 1940. Drafted in March 1943, Earnest was assigned to E Company 116th Infantry on 9 Aug 1944. PFC Stafford was killed in action on 16 Oct 1944. He is buried in
Antioch Methodist Cemetery in Oneonta, Alabama.
