PFC Roy B. Ricker was born 18 Oct 1922 in Greeneville, Tennessee. He was the 5th of 7 children born to David Ross and Ressie T. (Harrison) Ricker. His father farmed in Greene County, Tennessee and worked on road construction (probably under a WPA project) in 1940 reporting a 1939 income of only $250. That same year Roy reported an income of $175 working as a stemmer in a tobacco factory. The family was renting their home on Old Jones Bridge Road for $4 a month.
Roy was drafted a R. B. Ricker in November 1942. We don't know much about his movements prior to 25 Jul 1944 when he was transferred from the replacement depot to K Company 116th Infantry. PFC Ricker fought with K Company until killed in action on 7 Oct 1944 near Baesweiler, Germany.
PFC Ricker was repatriated and re-interred with family members in the Mount Tabor UMC Cemetery in Camp Creek, Tennessee.
