PVT Frank D. Rossi was born 7 Oct 1924 in Mahoning County, Ohio. He was the 4th of the 7 children born to Mercurio Pasquale and Lucia (Cutrone). Both parents were natives of Toro, Italy which is northeast of Naples. His father worked in a steel mill. The family lived at 37 Bright Avenue in Campbell, Ohio which was valued at $3000 in 1940. Frank completed 3 years of high school at Campbell High School.

Frank was drafted in July 1943. He might well have started work at the steel mill by that time. After his military training he was sent to the European theater. PVT Rossi was assigned to L Company 116th Infantry on 7 Aug 1944 just as the 116th was ending operations in the area of Vire. The unit participated in training on the 16th to 21st and was then being re-directed to the attack on Brest, France. PVT Rossi participated in the fighting 26 Aug to 1 Sep 1944 when he was killed in action near La Trinite, France.

PVT Rossi was repatriated and re-interred in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery in Lowellville, Ohio.
