TSGT Alva Lee Newton

TSGT Alva Lee Newton (b. 3 Dec 1917 - d. 2 Sep 1944) enlisted 1 May 1941. Assigned to Company E, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division. Son of James Alva and Eva Lillian (Jeter) Newton of Bermuda, Chester County, Virginia. Alva was a machinist in civilian life. He may have attended the College of William and Mary in 1937. On 12 Apr 1941 he married Anne Marriott Piercy a nurse born in Prince William County, Virginia. 

TSGT Newton was killed in the attack on Brest.  Anne remarried but died of a heart attack at age 44.
