CPL Chester Stanley Wolbach

CPL Chester Stanley Wolbach was born 3 Feb 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the youngest of the 4 children born to Joseph and Jadwiga (Musialowski) Wolbach. Both parents were natives of Poland. Chester's father supported his family by first working in various factories and then found a job on the Northwest Rail Road for which company he worked until he retired. The family lived in Milwaukee all of Chester's life including time at 723 Greenbush Street, 1095 6th Avenue and 2511 South 11th Street. Chester only completed 2 years of high school before working at Allis Chalmers Company. 

Chester was drafted in January 1943 and after completing his military training was sent to Europe. CPL Wolbach was transferred from the replacement depot to C Company 116th Infantry on 11 Aug 1944 to served as an infantry squad leader. This was at the beginning of the regiment's participation in the drive to liberate Brest, France. CPL Wolbach was killed in action in Brest on 3 Sep 1944. 

CPL Wolbach rests forever in the Brittany American Cemetery.
