PVT Alexander Materi

PVT Alexander Materi, b. 11 Jun 1924 - d. 1 Sep 1944. Son of Jacob and Josephine (Bilcher) Materi of Strasburg, North Dakota, he was survived by his parents and 6 siblings. It appears that he landed on 6 June with K Company 116th Infantry was wounded on 30 August, evacuated and died of his wounds on 1 September. PVT Materi is buried at the Brittany American Cemetery.  His family also has a centotaph in the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Strasburg, North Dakota.
