2LT Deane Leslie Quilici

2LT Deane Leslie Quilici was born 27 May 1921 in Dayton, Nevada. He was the youngest of the 2 sons of Peter John and Lola (Flake) Quilici. Deane graduated from Dayton High School and then attended and graduated from the University of Nevada where he had been a member of the ROTC in 1943. His father operated a grocery.

Deane was commissioned shortly after graduation. He received further training at Fort Benning, Georgia then was sent to England in May 1944. On 8 Jul 144 he was transferred from the replacement depot to Headquarters and Headquarters Company 3rd Battalion 116th Infantry. 2LT Quilici was killed in action 16 Jul 1944.

2LT Quilici is buried with many other members of the 116th in the Normandy American Cemetery. There is also a cenotaph to his memory in the Dayton Cemetery in Dayton, Nevada.

Deane's older brother, Clifford Wayne Quilici, served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1940 rising to the rank of MAJ during the war and retiring from the Corps as a COL in 1972.
