PFC Maurice Joseph Raiche

PFC Maurice Joseph Raiche was born 26 Aug 1916 in Montreal, Canada. He was the youngest of the 5 children born to Phillipe and Alma (DeRosier) Raiche. The family moved to Detroit, Michigan in the 1920s and Phillipe worked as a mechanic. Maurice married Dora Flore Lemieux in May 1941.

Maurice was drafted and after his basic military training was eventually sent to England and assigned into L Company 116th Infantry. He trained with the unit for the amphibious assault that was a planned part of the invasion of occupied France. He was promoted to PFC on 20 Jun 1944. He continued to fight with L Company until killed in action on 17 Jul 1944.

PFC Raiche was ultimately interred in the Normandy American Cemetery.
