Assigned to F Company 116th Infantry. According to the morning report he was probably serving with the unit on D-Day. He was killed in action 17 Jul 1944. At his funeral (in 1948) it was said that he was killed by a sniper in a peach orchard. He is buried in the Furnace Mountain Presbyterian Cemetery in Lucketts, Virginia.
