CPL Edward Clyde Hudgins was born 5 Feb 1918 in Boissevain, Virginia and working as a miner when he was drafted in May 1941. After his initial training as a light mortar crewman he was assigned to H Company 116th Infantry, perhaps before the regiment sailed for England in September 1942. He trained with that unit for the amphibious beach assault that would take place on 6 Jun 1944. CPL Hudgins was killed in action on 12 Jul 1944.
