PFC Frederick Steven Brawner was born 21 Feb1925 in Baltimore, Maryland the youngest of three children of Charles Julius and Marie (Weinecke) Brawner. His father worked as a welder. In 1943 Frederick was noted as working as a driver and having a grammar school education (through the 8th grade).
He was drafted in July 1943 and after completing his basic military training was sent to England and assigned to L Company 116th Infantry as a rifleman, Frederick landed on D-Day with that unit and was promoted to PFC on 20 Jun 1944. PFC Brawner was wounded on 12 Jul 1944 and evacuated to the hospital where he died of his wound(s) that same day.
PFC Brawner rests forever in the Normandy American Cemetery.
