PVT Teddie Ray Weaver

PVT Teddie Ray Weaver was born 25 Jul 1925 in Haskell, Texas. He was the 2nd of the 6 sons of Charles Jay and Nellie Mae (Maxwell) Weaver. Younger brother, Freddie Weaver died of whooping cough in August 1927. Charles was working as a laborer and it seems that the depression was a difficult time for the family as malnutrition was listed as a contributing cause of Freddie's death.

Drafted in December 1943, Teddie spent the next 4-5 months training at Camp Fannin, Texas and went to England in June 1944. PVT Weaver was transferred from the replacement depot to B Company 116th Infantry on 16 Jul 1944 while the unit was still in the fight for Saint-Lo, France and killed in action on that same day.

PVT Weaver was repatriated in 1948 and re-interred in Willow Cemetery in Haskell, Texas.

Teddie's father served in the Phillipines during the Spanish-American war as a PVT in the 1st Texas Volunteer Cavalry.Great-grandfather, James Harvey Maxwell, served as a PVT in C Company 15th Arkansas Infantry (CSA) during Civil War.
