PFC Otra K. Gladden was born 26 May 1922 in Corinth, Alabama to Enoch Stanford and Louella (Sparks) Gladden. His father was a watchmaker.
Otra was drafted in October 1942 and left his job as a glazier to serve his country. Sent to England he was assigned to I Company 116th Infantry. After training with that unit for the amphibious assault at Omaha Beach, he took part in that action. On 15 Jun 1944 he was wounded by shrapnel in the left hand but remained on duty. PFC Gladden was killed in action on 25 Aug 1944.
PFC Gladden is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama.
