PVT Grover L. Leftridge

PVT Grover L. Leftridge was born in 1925 in Saint Francois County, Missouri one of seven children of Fenton Morris and Ella Elizabeth (Perkins) Leftridge. The family farmed but by 1940 the family men were engaged in mining and the family rented their dwelling for $2 a month.

Grover was drafted in January 1943.  Sent to England, he may have arrived early enough to be assigned to K Company 116th Infantry for the D-Day amphibious assault at Omaha beach.  PVT Leftridge was killed in action on 6 Aug 1944, near Vire, France.

PVT Leftridge is buried in the Brittany American Cemetery.
