PFC Harry Alton Webb

PFC Harry Alton Webb was born 26 Apr 1925 in Morgan County, Missouri. He was the 2nd of 7 children of Wromie Nelson and Mary Mae (Sanders) Webb. His father supported the family by farming land he owned in Buffalo Township in Morgan County. This farm was valued at $500 in 1940. Harry attended high school in Gravois Mills, Missouri.

After Harry was drafted, probably in mid to late 1943 just after he graduated from high school, and then attended his basic military training which took about 5-months. PFC Webb was sent to the European theater landing first in England and then was sent to France where he was transferred from the replacement depot to B Company 116th Infantry on 13 Jun 1944. However, A Company's losses had been heavier on D-Day and so he was transferred to A Company on 15 Jun 1944. PVT Webb fought with A Company until killed in action near Saint-Lo, France on 15 Jul 1944.

PFC Webb is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
