PVT Jerome Bradley Warnock

PVT Jerome Bradley Warnock was born 22 May 1910 together with his twin brother, Francis Grant Warnock, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was the 5th of the 6 sons born to William Joseph and Elizabeth Frances (McAleer) Warnock. His father worked as a laborer at various jobs including, for a time at least, for the city of Pittsburgh. He was thrifty enough to purchase a home at 1630 Alverado Street in Pittsburgh which was valued at $4000 in 1940. Sadly, Jerome's mother had died in 1933 age 56 of a heart attack. His older brothers were Pittsburgh police officers and it was left to the 3 youngest to support their father. Jerome was working for Frank Mancuso and Son on Belasco Street.

Jerome was drafted in March 1942. After his basic military training he was sent to England in January 1943. Once in England he was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company 116th Infantry. Having participated in the D-Day landings on 6 Jun 1944, PVT Warnock was with regimental headquarters until he was killed in action near Saint-Lo, France on 14 Jul 1944.

PVT Warnock rests forever in the Normandy American Cemetery.

Jerome's twin served in the U.S. Army in Italy where he was injured in a truck accident.
