PFC Calvin Lee Rocque

PFC Calvin Lee Rocque was born 25 Jul 1922 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the oldest of the 3 boys and 1 girl born to Charles Michael and Mary Velva (Blair) Rocque. His father worked as a bookbinder earning a reported 1939 income of $1600 and lived in a home valued at $2000 at 15920 Long Avenue in Oak Forest, Illinois.

Calvin was drafted in March 1943. After his basic military training he was sent to the European theater, probably arriving in England in late June 1944. PFC Rocque was transferred from the replacement depot to E Company 116th Infantry on 13 Jul 1944. He was killed in action on 15 Jul 1944.

PFC Rocque was repatriated in 1948 and re-interred in the Cedar Park Cemetery in Calumet, Illinois.

Brother Charles Michael Rocque Jr served as a S2c in the U.S. Navy aboard the transport USS General O. H. Ernst.
