PVT Jaime Hermon Massey

PVT Jaime Hermon Massey was born 28 Jun 1924 in Spencer, Virginia.  He was the 12th of 15 children born to William Albert and Julia Ann (Spencer) Massey. The family farmed in Rockingham County, North Carolina and William later worked outside the farm. The household reported a 1939 income of $420.  In 1942, Jaime was working for Price Food Store.

Jaime was drafted in August 1943.  After completing his basic training he was sent to the European theater.  On 5 Jul 1944 PVT Massey was transferred from the replacement depot to C Company 116th Infantry. He was killed in action just 10 days later on 15 Jul 1944.

PVT Massey was repatriated and re-interred in Greenview Cemetery in Reidsville, North Carolina.

Nephew, Thomas William Massie, served in the U.S. Army 1942-1945. Brothers also served, Archie Riley Massey served 1940-1945 and Jewel Massey served as a BKPR3 in the US Navy in WWII.
